Red Rock Canyon, Waterton

After the cruise we stopped in the townsite for lunch. There was a large bug on a neighbouring table. No idea what it was, but it was neat.

After lunch we drove up to Red Rock Canyon, which is so beautiful. I waded in the water, and it's really cold, but so clear. We saw so many tiger swallowtails during the day. I don't think I've ever seen so many at one time.

Waterton Cruise July 08

We took John's parents, Pauline & Maurice, to Waterton Park today. We went on a cruise first. The pictures aren't in perfect order, but you can see how beautiful it is.

This is a special type of fold in the rock. It's apparently quite rare.

This is Goat Haunt, Montana, where the cruise stops briefly.

We saw 2 bald eagles, which was very cool. The last time we saw bald eagles was in 1998, in Arizona. We also saw a coyote on the way home, but I wasn't able to get a picture of it.

The line in the forest marks the Canada/US border, and we're told it stretches through the forest, all the way to Lake of the Woods.

FLOOD!

The first 2 pictures are from a walk Pauline & I took early on Canada Day. Then we had a massive storm that afternoon, with a tremendous amount of rain. The street in front of our house flooded terribly, as you can see in the pictures. The street, boulevards, and sidewalks should be visible, but the water was knee high at its peak. Fortunately our house was OK, but a house across the street was badly damaged by the water. You can also see that Molly did NOT enjoy the storm!
