Just Pictures

Pupski & I walked around Sunridge a few days ago. I took my camera as I haven't been taking many pictures lately. I'm glad I did as there was lots to see.

Reunited!

We're allowing Paisley to do more activity. We started with a couple of short play dates with Fundy. So far, so good.  Sarah came over tonight to give her a massage and see how she feels. She was pretty good, although she had some tightness on the outside of her right leg. We're hoping it's just some soreness from the activity. Her iliopsoas & her shoulder seem OK, so that's great news. We'll continue with some backyard plays for a while, and some on-leash walks with Zacky, then move to off leash action, then back to daycare. It's a slow process, but we really don't want to risk reinjuring either the shoulder or leg.

Neighbours' Flowers

Our neighbours have amazing gardens. They work on them every day, so they are fantastic. They asked me to take some pictures of the flowers for them. Here is a sample.

Iron Legs, etc

The weekend of August 17 we went to Calgary for John to run a race in Bragg Creek. It was a 50 mile race. He ran about 2/3 of it, and another runner from their group ran about 1/3. They did really well, coming in as the second team. Now, they came in 4 hours after the first team, but still, they came second! And the first team consisted of basically professional runners ; )

I had planned to take a ton of pictures, but that didn't happen. I thought I'd have tons of time to kill with the dog, but we had to do a lot of driving (runner support), and hanging out at the finish line. Wow, some of those runners looked like hell at the end. I wonder how John & Jennifer will look after running 100k this coming weekend.

Both John & I are back at work now. It's sad to see the summer end, we've had such a great time. I hope the weather stays nice for a while yet though. We've had such gorgeous evenings, and I'm enjoying riding to & from work.

Paisley is adjusting to the change in her schedule. She doesn't like being left alone much, but she manages. We are letting her do a little more. She has played with Fundy a few times, and we'll walk with Zack this week. She'll love that. She sees him in the doorway and cries and cries. Soon we'll try the off leash park. If that goes well, then we'll try daycare in a few weeks. We're really hoping she is 100%, and can get back to running & playing like she did before the injury.

Latest Projects

I've been doing a lot of embroidery over the summer. It's portable, so I took it with me to Toronto, and I  can do it on the front porch when we sit out there with Pupski. With the pink one I tried a new technique. I appliqued the flowers and leaves. I hand sewed the stems on, after making some bias strips. Then I beaded the centres. I'm happy with how it turned out. I had a vision in my head, and it looks quite close to that. I made a cute top to go with it as well, but it wouldn't look like much in a picture.

The jean skirt took longer than I anticipated. The beading on the bird took an especially long time. After taking the pictures I realized that I should have pressed it first. Oh well. 

Holy Cow!

Wow, it's been ages since I last posted anything. Not that I haven't been doing anything, mostly because I haven't been on the computer as much as usual. Given that my summer vacation is nearing completion I've been trying to be outside a lot. Well, that and I've been obsessed with the Olympics. I watched waaay more than I had intended. It's just so interesting, all those sports you'd never see or even know about otherwise.

John's parents were here for a month as well. Unfortunately, because of Paisley's injury, we couldn't do much, we mostly just hung around. We spent a lot of time on the front porch, which at least gave Paisley stuff to watch. It was great to have them visit.

After that I went to Toronto for a couple of weeks. I didn't do much there either. Mostly visited with friends and family, which was pretty much what I was hoping for. And watching the Tour de France, of course!  I went from that the Olympics ; )

Paisley is still on restricted activities. Her iliopsoas seems to be improving, but her shoulder is still problematic. She won't extend it fully. Until she's 100% she can't play or visit with dogs. There is too much risk that she will reinjure one of the 2 injuries, then it would be back to square one. No one wants that.

I have had my camera out for weeks. I didn't even take it to Toronto. John is running the Iron Legs race on Bragg Creek next weekend though, so I will bring it with me. I'm sure there will be one or two places to take a nice picture there! It could be a bit awkward because we have to take Paisley. I find photography and poodle wrangling don't always mix. Go figure.

I guess that's about it. Nice that I can sum up a month in a few paragraphs.
