We all got together at Chris's place to celebrate birthdays. Zachary was the hit of the party, as usual. My niece Virginia took the pictures of the flowers.
Now that we've moved away from Toronto, we thought this might be a good way to keep in touch, and let people know what's going on with us here in Lethbridge.

Babies!
Our little bird in the planter had babies. There are 5 of the little guys. At this point they aren't making any noise, just hanging around with their mouths open. I assume as they grow, they'll make more noise. Right now they are just cute and fuzzy! I still don't know what kind of birds they are though.
I'll keep taking pictures as they grow.

Birds!
I've never had this happen before, but a bird has made a nest in one of my hanging baskets. The nest has 5 eggs in it. We had our tall friend Nicholas (6'8"!) take pictures of it. Then we decided to move the basket, because it was right at the top of the steps, and every time someone came to the door, the bird would fly out. We were afraid that it might get aggressive when the babies are born. So we moved it a little further along the overhang. We hoped the little bird would be able to find the nest again. Let me tell you, there were a few tense moments while it looked around! It kept going to the old location, then it would fly away. Fortunately after a couple of tries, it went to the new location, and found the nest. We watched it for a while, and it seems to be going to the correct location every time now, so we think it'll be OK. Once the babies are born we'll try to get some pictures of them.
I have no idea what kind of bird it is.
Some of the pictures here are a little blurry because Nicholas was reaching up with one hand to take them.

The Weather
So the weather has been really awful for weeks now. Today may have been the worst though. It was storming, raining & hailing for quite a while this afternoon. Unfortunately, I was riding home in it! It was awful, but funny at the same time. My biggest concern was the lightning, but I made it home safely. Just very, very wet. I had to dump water out of my shoes! The hail stopped several hours ago, but there is still some left on the ground.
The rain was so heavy for so long, the road in front our house was flooded. The end of the boulevard was completely covered in water, and there was about 6-8 inches in the road.
